Two truths and a lie

This past weekend, we went to a picnic for a school group our son’s going to be involved with next year, and for one of be icebreakers, they played Two Truths and a Lie. If you’ve never played it, the idea’s right there in the name — you have to tell three facts about yourself, one of which must be false. I thought, for fun, I’d take a stab at it here in my blog.

  1. I have sewn, crocheted, and knitted clothes for both of my kids.
  2. I’ve been to Russia.
  3. I’m the Xbox Queen in our house.

Too easy? Okay, here’s another set:

  1. I’ve worn glasses since sixth grade.
  2. My hair has been long enough for me to sit on it.
  3. My right foot is two sizes larger than my left.

And one more set:

  1. I can speak Irish Gaelic.
  2. My favorite power tool is the wood lathe.
  3. I’ve dabbled in playing the harmonica.

Okay, make your guesses! And then, for fun, play along, either here in the comments or on your own blog, and give us two truths and a lie about you.

  1. This is fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

    I guess your lies are 2, 3 and 1.

    Here’s my set:

    1. I’ve received mail at 67 physical addresses.
    2. I jumped off a vessel in the middle of the ocean to swim with dolphins.
    3. I hate the taste of envelope gum and always get someone else to lick them for me.

    • Oooh, that’s tough. I’m going to guess the lie is #2. I can totally see you jumping off a ship to swim with dolphins, but I think you wouldn’t do it in the middle of the ocean. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • No, I did. Well, we did. I was with several other people. It was amazing, and quite freaky to consider the miles of water beneath us.

My lie was #1. I’ve only received mail at 30-odd physical addresses.

        Which were your lies?

        • 30-odd is still a good number of addresses!

I’ll reveal the lies next week — I’m still waiting to see if there are any other guesses. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Heh, you’re good at this. You must make up lies for a living ๐Ÿ˜€ The only one I’m sure is a lie is #2 in the first set. I’m going to guess that either the hair or the glasses in the second set is a half truth. I don’t recall you mentioning Irish Gaelic so I’m going to say that’s the lie in the first set.

David, I’m going to agree with Erin about the dolphins.

    For myself:

    1. I’m from Montana but I can’t ride a horse.
    2. I love golf and hiking.
    3. I have an MA in Late Medieval/early Renaissance drama.

    • Heh, youโ€™re good at this. You must make up lies for a living

      Why, thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

I know your second one is true. I know the first half of the first one is true. I think your degree is in literature, rather than drama, so I’m going to go with #3.

  3. Kathleen Hammond

    I say 3, 2 and 1.

    1. I’ve worn glasses since eighth grade.
    2. I smoked one of my Dad’s cigars when I was eight years old.
    3. I lived in a Magical House for eight years.

    • I’m sensing a theme in your sentences. I’m pretty sure it’s #3 — it was more than eight years. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Kathleen Hammond

Yes it was. It was 18 years.
